Guilford Genomic Medicine Initiative (GGMI): Project Goals

The goal of the GGMI is to create a model system to promote the use of genomic medicine in community healthcare. This model can also be used by the Nation’s military.  The long-term goal of GGMI is to offer personalized healthcare to private citizens and military personnel at a reduced cost. As part of this initiative, researchers will also look for genetic changes that cause disease or that predict which medications are most effective for a patient.
